Education and Experience at the Bristol Universityy
I am an American and more often get questions from friends on why I had to come and study at Bristol University to further my education. However, there is so much to say about my experience at this one of a kind university. There is freedom, quality education, all kinds of good people to be around and the many opportunities this institutions gives to its students.
I count myself lucky that I got the chance to be here to explore a kind of life that I only imagined. In fact, the two years I was here felt like less than a year.
Why I chose Bristol University for my Education
At first, I did not know much about universities, but my search for the course I wanted to undertake made me traverse many of the renowned universities. I came across many of these higher institutions of learning but only one caught my attention. Bristol University education was highly ranked and had the course I always wanted to pursue. Therefore, I read about it in depth and thought that this is the kind of place I have ever wanted for my degree. It did not take much of convincing to apply and I got the chance. Be that as it may, I have never regretted that choice.
At Bristol, every dream comes true. After all, there are staggering academic opportunities and co-curricular activities. When you are not in class, you are in groups or student clubs of all nature. I liked the reviews of the university and its education by past students and I experienced all the good things they said about education at the university.
What I studied for my education
I have always had some interest in human origin and the society in general. That is why I always wanted to study anthropology. My interest in this course began in my early primary years. A Briton teacher once visited our school. He had studied anthropology education at a university back at his home and he had been invited for a career talk at our school. He gave a very interesting talk and this got me thinking about a course and career in this field.
When I got the chance to go to a university, I only wanted to do this course. Since I had already found Bristol to be the University and place of education of my choice. Everything was in place and I got the chance. My course lasted for 2 years and cherished every moment I spent there.
Where I lived during my years of education at Bristol
In my 2 years at the university, I lived at Elmgorve Park. This place has many university houses for those taking education here. Nonetheless, I did not want to live in a hall, as there is no much of independence. At the house, I had more independence and an entire bedroom to myself.
The only thing I shared with two other students is the kitchen and toilet. They were very good friends and we spent countless hours sharing campus gossips when we had nothing better to do.
My mom’s surprise visit
When I left home to join university education, my mom had just been diagnosed with breast cancer. I could not believe it and wanted to defer at least for one year to help her through the hard times ahead. She insisted that I go to school as she seeks all the help she could get. On the other hand, I unwillingly went to school and could not forget about her. I wrote back daily to keep up with her condition.
After 4 months, she said that she would come and visit me. At the same time, I told her it would be better to wait for a break so that I could go home instead. She insisted on coming so I had to bulge. When she came, the first thing she said was that she had no cancer anymore. Surprisingly, I could not believe it whatsoever. Nevertheless, I had to hold back tears as she explained how she found some help with a cancer center in New York. I was so happy for her and she was happy for my progress at school.
My life and education at this university was unbelievably satisfying. Given another chance, I would make the same choice to go to the same university and study the same course. I graduated with first class and went back home. I already found a job and I am now living the dream I always had in my childhood. My mom is perfectly healthy and she regularly visits me when I take long before going to see her.
